National Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) starts next week!

This is a year-long lifestyle change program designed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. This program is evidence-based and backed by decades of research which has shown that participants can successfully develop and maintain new eating and exercise habits to lose weight, keep fit, and prevent diabetes. Wholistic Health U is a CDC certified provider, and Dr. Alisa Tomette has been trained as an Advanced Lifestyle Coach to provide information and support throughout the program. The classes will meet, online via Zoom, one hour each week for 16 weeks, then one hour each month for 8 months.

To participate in the program, you must be at risk of developing type 2 diabetes as indicated by the following guidelines:

1) have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of >25 (calculate your BMI here)

AND

2) have a positive screening for prediabetes based on the Prediabetes Risk Test (complete the screening here) OR have a blood test showing elevated glucose levels (Fasting glucose of 100 to 125 mg/dl or HbA1C of 5.7 to 6.4)

There is no cost to participate! All program materials are free and provided by email. Financial assistance up to $200 is available, to those who qualify, to purchase healthy food and additional program support materials. Contact Dr. Tomette for more information on receiving financial assistance.

Classes will meet every Wednesday, 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM, March 8 – June 21, then one Wednesday each month July 2023 – February 2024. Advanced registration is required. REGISTER HERE.
